Isolation kills; do not go through this alone!
Why This Ministry Is Different
We've Been Where You Are
When a first responder or veteran finally reaches out for help, one of the first walls they hit is this: "How could this person possibly understand what I've done and seen?" Not everyone will like that, but it's the truth. It's not pride—it's discernment. And it's one of the reasons so many men walk away from help feeling more alone than when they walked in.
The men of Mission Dei have lived this culture. We know what rock bottom looks like—not from a textbook, but from experience. We understand the addiction, the shame, the anxiety, and the depression that can follow years of carrying what most people will never carry. We are not coming to you from a place of piety. We are coming to you as brothers who have been in the dark and found the only light that holds.
"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever."
Scripture calls us to be conformed to the image and likeness of Christ—"For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son" (Romans 8:29). That is the goal. But the path there is walked with an Advocate. The Holy Spirit is our Helper, our Comforter, the One who intercedes for us when we don't have the words. That is exactly what we are called to be for you—advocates who walk alongside, who listen without judgment, and who point every step back to the Word of God.
We are not another "program." We are not a hotline. We are men who have been there, who know the One who redeems it, and who will sit with you in it for as long as it takes.
Jackie Parker
Founder
Retired Battalion Chief · Arlington Fire Dept.
Jackie founded Mission Dei after 30 years in emergency services — as a firefighter, retired Battalion Chief with the Arlington, Texas Fire Department, and flight paramedic with CareFlite. He holds a B.S. in Theology and an M.A. in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University. He doesn't see himself as a counselor, just a brother in Christ who wants to help carry the load.
Lt. Col. Mark Roy, USMC (Ret.)
Co-Founder
Overseer, Veterans Ministry · 25 Years USMC Reserve
Mark co-founded Mission Dei and oversees our veterans' ministry. He served 25 years in the Marine Corps Reserve — enlisting as a Private in 1988, earning his commission in 1993, and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel after three combat deployments including Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom II. He serves as a lay leader and veteran mentor at Denton Bible Church.
"The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?"
